Terms of Use

Effective date: October 3, 2026

Publication checklist: This draft needs the operator’s legal name, contact email, and governing jurisdiction before publication. Replace those details and have the terms reviewed for the places where the service is offered.

1. About this service

The 2FA Code Generator is a browser-based tool that calculates six-digit TOTP codes from a Base32 setup key. It currently uses SHA-1 and a 30-second time period. It does not scan QR codes, generate SMS codes, or generate counter-based HOTP codes.

2. Your responsibilities

Use the tool only for accounts and systems you own or are authorized to access. You are responsible for protecting your setup key, checking the generated code before using it, maintaining secure backups, and following the account provider’s instructions. Never share a setup key or one-time code with someone who asks for it.

3. Security and availability

The tool is provided for convenience and is not a managed password manager, security service, or substitute for an authenticator application you trust. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, compatibility with every account provider, or that a generated code will be accepted. Keep your device clock accurate and retain the recovery methods provided by the account service.

The app stores the setup key in this browser’s local storage so it can restore the generator. If you allow optional advertising, third-party scripts run in the app page and may access browser/page information. See the Privacy Policy and Security Disclaimer.

4. Acceptable use

Do not use the website to violate another person’s rights, bypass access controls, interfere with the service, or break applicable law. We may restrict access when reasonably necessary to protect the service or its users.

5. Third-party advertising and links

Optional advertising scripts and links are provided by third parties and load only after you allow advertising. We do not control third-party websites, offers, privacy practices, or availability. Visiting an advertiser’s website is subject to that provider’s terms and policies.

6. No warranty; liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided “as is” and without warranties. Nothing in these terms excludes a right or liability that cannot legally be excluded. Any limitation of liability must be reviewed and completed for the applicable jurisdiction before publication.

7. Changes and contact

We may update the service or these terms. The effective date above will change when this page is revised. For questions, contact [operator contact email]. The service operator is [operator legal name and address].

Governing law and venue: [insert applicable country/region and venue after legal review], subject to any non-waivable rights that apply to you.
